RaderCo - Weekender Snapshot

Celebrating Life & Connections.

Last weekend, the Día de los Muertos festival hit me right in the values: color, culture, and community. It also made me miss six years of Huatulco trips and the friends we made there.

Rockin' out: Remember Megan, the waitress who watched my TEDx on her break and came back with notes? We’re friends now. I took her to her first rock show. She asked if she needed earplugs. Yes. Yes, she did.

Lessons earned:

Two weeks ago, I let the air traffic control situation cause flight anxiety and steer a decision. I chose virtual. Client loved it, but I regretted letting spiraling news drive my call. I used the Powered Path Playbook to document this lesson earned and what I would have done differently (structured reflection is powerful). This week, I flew to Boston, dealt with delays, and proved the sky wasn’t falling. Next time: better inputs, better choices.

Real life: two Apple Store visits where my device behaved perfectly, and a kitchen-reno delay that pushed us to December. One baby tear shed. One shared goal with my husband: don’t let stress ding the relationship. Still intact - Yay!

This week's inspiration: Boone’s Bakery donates 10% to support people in need. This month, they’re giving to the NC Food Bank. I bought goodies and donated too. If you’re in, follow along on Instagram here and buy gifts (or goodies for yourself...I won't tell!)

VIP Give-Back (now-Dec 15)

I was inspired, so if you invest in a speaking engagement or personal coaching program, I’ll donate 5% of net profits to a food bank or food-giving nonprofit in your city. Invest in your team and feed your community. Not even Santa could do better. Schedule a call.

My connection adventures continued: Spent a solid hour with almost 1000 accountants (yes, that's 3 zeros...) on how to Work Well Remotely.

Pro Tip: Create a shutdown routine or transition. Play a song, take a walk, and write down your first task for tomorrow. Don't let work seep into your personal time.

On Thursday, I spent the day with 150 leaders at Builders Mutual Insurance Company, where I delivered a session on Building Meaningful Connections. After listening to my podcast episode, they were inspired to create a whole session on one-to-ones. I gave out copies of Reclaim Your Workday and access to our Powered Path Goal-Achievement course.

Quick tip: In your meeting, ask the question “What was your smartest decision in the last month?” You might be surprised at the extraordinary insights your team has to share.

When you get this, I’ll be meeting a friend for coffee, followed by a walkie-talkie catch-up with a former client. The weekend includes a Justice Theater performance, trekking to Charlotte for high-fives with my surrogate niece, Lydia (who just launched her first book at 13!), and a meeting with her dad (and my fellow masterminder), Justin Jones-Fosu, to discuss my next book.

On with the Weekender!

PRODUCTIVITY POWER TIP

Attention Anchors, Part 1: Environment

Change the room. Change the result—guardrails for space, phone, chat, and email. Pro-Tip: If your DND sign’s been up since 2022, it’s invisible. Use signs only when you’re truly focusing.

Happy New Year! We road-tripped to Indiana for family time, then came home to finish the kitchen reno from hell, including a countertop install that “forgot” the stove cutout and an electrician who left a hot wire waving hello. Holidays in style with Kevin! But…it’s beautiful, and we’re prioritizing more entertaining this year. I’ll share my prioritization + planning process on the Jan 27 podcast. My last personal note for 2025... I'm in Scottsdale for five days as the chair of the Certified Speaking Professionals Summit. About 140 speakers will gather in groups of nine to mastermind for two full days. All of my Speakers With Impact Mastermind will be there, and we'll stay longer and have our end-of-year meeting. My mastermind (and fellow CSPs®), Kevin Snyder, Justin Jones-Fosu, Marcey Rader (me), Raven Solomon, and Stan Phelps. What’s a mastermind? A small group that meets regularly...
