Want to know what the internet thinks of YOU?
I asked ChatGPT to tell mefive things I wouldn’t know about myself. The answers? Surprising and validating. Do you agree with #4?I hope so!
Side note: I also asked it to define stealthily hilarious. Turns out, it's someone who doesn’t try to be the life of the party but drops witty, unexpected, or dry humor that sneaks up on you. (I graciously accept this title...)
Meeting fatigue? Not on our watch.
The latest Find Your Meeting Mojo training at Vertex Pharmaceuticals left attendees fired up & ready to reclaim their calendars. Their feedback? Eye-opening and energizing:
Thanks, Vertex!
When meetings are a drag, productivity suffers.
But meetings done right? = Game-changer. Want to bring the mojo to your team? Let’s talk.
Remote work, email overload & breaking free from busy.
I spoke to 1,800+ accountants on how to Work Well Remotely, Break Free from Busy, and Extinguish their Email. Hybrid work challenges came up a lot, so our new podcast series is right on time. Check out our latest episode below—this one’s for managers.
Also, I had the honor of speaking to NCSU Park Scholars about Elevating Their Focus—and nope, I don’t let them take notes on a laptop (the horror!). Why? Because handwriting beats typing for retention. Plus, writing forces you to capture what actually matters instead of transcribing everything.
Ani DiFranco, government algorithms & what we choose to share.
We saw Ani DiFranco live last Friday—36 years of fandom, and she still delivers. One brief statement she made stuck with me: The government isn’t evil. The government is an entity. Real humans work in the government. They are our neighbors with a civil service job.
Many of my friends & family have worked for the government, and I was once a contractor at the Army Research Lab and NIOSH. Many civil servants are under immense stress, juggling tight budgets, policy shifts, uncertainty, and increasing demands. The next time you call a support line or file a grievance, remember a little extra patience & kindness can go a long way.
The negativity we see is what our algorithms amplify. Did you know negative news spreads 2.3x faster than positive news? As much as we say we don't like it, our brain prefers it. Social media thrives on outrage—before you hit share, ask yourself: Do I know enough about this article that I could talk about it in real life, or am I just forwarding a headline and snippet I've read?
When you get this, I’ll be getting a pedicure with my mom before a packed weekend hosting my parents and my sister’s family in our little 1,100 sq. ft. home. Hikes, board games, bowling, and action movies—it’s gonna be fun!
Episode 102: Navigating the Return to Office - The Manager's Role in a Smooth Transition
Managers, are you feeling the pressure of return-to-office policies? Balancing flexibility, performance, and engagementisn’t easy—but it’s possible. In this week’s podcast, I share practical strategies to help leaders navigate RTO without micromanaging or meeting overload. (Second episode in my special 4-part 'Reclaiming Your Workday' podcast series).

My Little Free Library is finally ready to launch, and I’m ridiculously excited. My handy husband has spent the last month building it, and this weekend we’ll officially open it up to the neighborhood. It’s one of my Top Three personal priorities for the year, so this one feels extra good. To celebrate, I hosted a Books & Banter party with six girlfriends. Everyone brought one book to swap and one to donate, and we answered two questions: What was a pivotal book you read as a child? What’s...
Long lines at the airport last week gave me a timely reminder of a leadership problem I see everywhere at work. Leaders sometimes fix what’s visible instead of what’s broken. The result is just better optics, not better outcomes. There’s a reason this topic is hitting a nerve. Asana reports that knowledge workers spend 60% of their time on “work about work,” and Microsoft reports that employees are interrupted every two minutes by meetings, emails, or pings. That is not a time-management...
You don't need another meeting. You need a message that lands without stealing an hour of focus. Why it matters: • Short async vidoes force clarity and speed decisions. • A single swap can return 26 hours per person per year. What you’ll learn: • When Loom beats a meeting • The five‑part structure that keeps it under five minutes • Weekly swaps to test now • Metrics to track in 30 days Tactics: • Lead with one line: “I am recommending X by Friday because Y.” • Use Loom for tone, visuals, and...
