On the travel train...
Last weekendwas all about Ava—my brilliant niece who graduated from high school with an associate’s degree already! She finished sixth in her class and is entering Ball State (my undergrad alma mater) as a sophomore. From the time she was little, she gave away her toys & money to other kids who needed them more. She’s smart, kind, and ready to take on the world. Not biased...just facts!
Her gift? A trip with me next week to the Pebble Beach Resort, where I’m speaking for Business Travel News. #BestAuntEver
While there, I met RaderCo Productivity Specialist Elisabeth Galperin at her alma mater, Miami University. We did a 5+ mile walkie-talkie (my favorite kind of date) followed by breakfast. I meant to get a photo, but true to form, I was so present I completely forgot. (Next time, Elisabeth!) Proof that being fully in the moment is great for connection... not so great for documentation.

I LOVE teaching for his platform and led Work Well Remotely just last week.
A highlight? One of the most fun responses I've ever received from an attendee on how she transitions to work in the morning. For those Severance fans, you'll know exactly what she's talking about!
Speaking of remote work: Olalah Njenga recreated an office coffee station at home for her husband—complete with disposable cups, mini-moos, and a tiny trash can. He needed to feel a transition, and this definitely fulfills that purpose!
When you get this, I’ll be drinking coffee with my dear friend & RaderCo Belonging & Culture Specialist Wendy Gates Corbett. Then I'm off to a jam-packed NSA Carolinas annual meeting, my husband’s Saturday night gig, a sensory-deprivation float, and a performance of Violet on Sunday.
Why stress over checking every notification on email or chat when it doesn't define your job success?
Power Tip: Notifications aren't meant to help you be more productive; they're meant to get you to use the tool more. Discover the power of selective focusing and reclaiming your attention.

Mother Nature forgot Raleigh's in the South. We had real snow, and I went five straight days without stepping outside. That meant a lot of comedy watched, a few podcasts recorded, and a couple of books finished. I also chopped my hair off and felt instantly lighter. Long hair isn’t me - too fussy, too much work. Back to my low-maintenance self, and loving it. I spent an evening with the NC State Park Scholars - one of my favorite groups every year - on Breaking Free From Busy. We talked about...

It's been a rough(ish) couple of weeks. Scene 1: San Juan. I flew in to keynote for PrimeGlobal and felt a cold creeping in. I left the networking event early, slept, and still woke up scratchy on Tuesday, keynote day. I powered through, lost most of my voice a few hours later, but still walked Old San Juan with my friend Wendy (I didn't feel terrible, and I wasn't going to miss seeing the city). Highlight: a coquito iced latte in a tiny café. Not-a-highlight: realizing my $10.18 drink was ~5...
