RaderCo - Weekender Snapshot

Milestone Unlocked: Manuscript Sent!

Last week, I hit send on my book manuscript, kicking it over to the designer for the final polish. A book’s never truly “done” (I’m on version four of Work Well. Play More!), but it’s officially in the formatting pipeline!

Here’s what’s next: cover design, uploading to Amazon, launch team building, marketing strategy, and preparing Reclaim Your Workday Live for teams that want hands-on guidance while reading.

Walking-Talkie: From a birthday stroll with my stylist-bestie Michelle (designer of my speaker reel suit!), a trip to Cary Park (if you're local to the Raleigh-Durham area, you must visit) to 14 miles with my visiting mom, I logged some serious steps. I even shared this tip with a client looking to exercise more: schedule walking meetings! We found four upcoming meetings she can take on foot and added a new habit: kicking off phone calls with a 10-minute walk. For the record, I rarely take a social call without pacing the neighborhood—even delaying calls a day if it's raining.

Meeting Makeovers: Meetings are in the spotlight. This quarter, I’m working with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, RTI International, and Horizon Farm Credit to tackle what employees say is their most unproductive time. After a single laser coaching session, one client sent me a fantastic update on their productivity gains.

Media & Speaking Highlights: This week, I spoke virtually to over 500 people about Working Well and Managing Remotely and recorded four podcast interviews about the new book. Power Tip: Just because virtual meetings have unlimited “seats” doesn’t mean we should fill them with people. Not every decision has to be a consensus.

Your Input Needed: It's time for our annual survey on what you like to see in the Weekender Snapshot. Please click this link for a short survey by 5:00pm on November 5 and be entered to win a copy of my new book, Reclaim Your Workday.

Celebrations Ahead: When you get this, I’ll be on my way to celebrate Lisa’s third anniversary as RaderCo’s Client Concierge with her first sensory deprivation tank experience. Tomorrow’s another walkie-talkie with a friend and then a Halloween fundraiser with Jack the Radio! Check out their newly released video here.

On with the Weekender!

Reflections, Prioritization, and Planning At the end of each quarter, I do reflections: pull out my Powered Path Playbook pages, look at wins, lessons earned, smartest decisions, and start planning the next quarter. This round happened all over the place. Another round of Playbook Quarterly Reflections with Wendy! Wendy and I've been doing quarterly reflections together for about a decade. This time it was Yemeni coffee at Haraz Coffeehouse. My friend Lilly and I did an abbreviated version...

Deep focus doesn't happen because you decided to concentrate harder. It happens because you set the right conditions. Your environment, your mindset, and your energy level all either support focused work or work against it. Most focus advice stops at removing distractions. That's necessary but not sufficient. Why it matters: Missing even one of the three attention anchors means the other two carry more weight than they should Without intentional conditions, deep work gets replaced by the...

Mountains, karaoke, and the Hope Diamond Last week, Kevin and I joined my parents, siblings, and two nieces in Asheville, North Carolina, one of my favorite cities in the country, for our first family vacation since I was a kid. We hiked Catawba Falls with my mom (which included 535 steep steps), roasted s'mores, sang karaoke (for the record, "Islands in the Stream" and "Blame It on the Rain" are much harder than they sound...), played games, and took a ghost tour. Did you know the Hope...
