Oh, what an electrifying two weeks it's been! ๐ Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the AICPA ENGAGE conference and enlightened minds with Time Power-Ups and Focus Power-Ups. The room was buzzing with energy and how they could create more traction rather than distractions! ๐ Here's the cherry on top - I got to have a heart-to-heart with the dashing Scott Zarret, the big brain behind CPA Academy. Guess what? Your gal here is CPA Academy's top-rated speaker in Personal Development and Business Management categories! Can we get a "WOWEE!!!"? ๐ I've had the pleasure of speaking to over 21,000 accounting professionals through CPA Academy, and my heart swells working with their stellar team. The conference was well-organized, but darling Vegas, you're a bit too glitzy for this gal. I'm not one to gamble, and the Strip, though enchanting, didn't woo me this time around. I preferred my cozy room, where I continued to work (yes, work!) as my preference! ๐๐ป Oh, and let's not forget about Friday! ๐ I raised a mug of Killer Bee latte to celebrate co-10-year business birthdays with my lovely friend and RaderCo Team Specialist, Wendy Gates Corbett! Cheers to us! ๐ฅ I then fluttered over to Charlotte for the NSA Carolinas annual banquet. I reconnected with my mastermind partner and all-around dynamo, Justin Jones-Fosu, CSPยฎ. His speech on bringing meaning to our work left me awe-inspired. ๐ I attended Dr. Willie Jolley's workshop on Saturday, where he spilled the beans on his illustrious speaking career. But let me tell you, the real star was Dee Taylor-Jolley, his fabulous wife. This queen's spirit was contagious โ clapping, laughing, and singing. They are a power couple! ๐คฉ๐ I'm eagerly waiting to dive into their book "Make Love, Make Money, Make it Last: 10 Secrets to Shape a Great Marriage". My whirlwind weeks continued as I flew to Tacoma to sprinkle some wisdom at the Washington State Department of Revenue on "Everyday Energy: Healthy Habits for Every Body." One pro tip I gave to the field staff working out of less-than-ideal spaces is to invest in a portable standing desk to give them options as they work.๐๐ As you read this, picture me cozied up at home this weekend while my rockstar husband's band Jack the Radio, takes the stage at Heroes Con. ๐ธ I'll be drinking coffee, recording a CPE webinar for Learn Formula, taking a walkie-talkie with my dear friend Beth, attending the musical Urinetown, and indulging in some ice cream. ๐ฆ On with the Weekender! p.s.Reviews mean SO much for small businesses like ours. Kindly give us a review on your favorite podcast channel, Google, or LinkedIn. High Fives & Hugs in advance! |

Deep focus doesn't happen because you decided to concentrate harder. It happens because you set the right conditions. Your environment, your mindset, and your energy level all either support focused work or work against it. Most focus advice stops at removing distractions. That's necessary but not sufficient. Why it matters: Missing even one of the three attention anchors means the other two carry more weight than they should Without intentional conditions, deep work gets replaced by the...
Mountains, karaoke, and the Hope Diamond Last week, Kevin and I joined my parents, siblings, and two nieces in Asheville, North Carolina, one of my favorite cities in the country, for our first family vacation since I was a kid. We hiked Catawba Falls with my mom (which included 535 steep steps), roasted s'mores, sang karaoke (for the record, "Islands in the Stream" and "Blame It on the Rain" are much harder than they sound...), played games, and took a ghost tour. Did you know the Hope...
How many of you feel like you are Siri or Alexa to your team? If they reach out, you must respond immediately. And if you reach out to someone and it's been 32 seconds, what's taking them so long? Why it matters: Instant replies train your team to expect them, which means you've made yourself their Siri permanently. Constant urgency raises cortisol, which compromises decision-making. Nobody solves the big problem over emails. Sometimes, waiting to respond is the most developmental thing you...
