RaderCo - Weekender Snapshot

Such a fun two weeks!

I drove to one of my favorite U.S. cities—Asheville—to speak for NCACPA at the historic Grove Park Inn. Bonus: I saw two former clients, caught up with another in town, and even squeezed in a wild turkey sighting (missed a bear by seconds—not sad about it!)

One highlight? In the buffet line, attendee Josh said, “I love getting your emails. Every time it feels like a joy.” Wow.

As simple as these look, there’s strategy, surveys, and 2+ hours of effort behind every one. I write the content, and Lisa makes them interesting and easy to read. We're so grateful when you reply with what details stand out, like the response below from Andrea.

In the last two weeks, I also:

  • Spoke for CPA Academy on Email Extinguisher. Pro tip: if you’re in the To line, you have an action. In cc? That’s an FYI. Leaders -train your teams to use them correctly to cut down on bottlenecks and missed actions.
  • Trained leaders at Vertex Pharmaceuticals on managing remotely without overcommunicating. Checking in nonstop or replying instantly doesn’t mean you’re effective. It just drains deep work focus.
  • Had lunch with fellow speaker Amy Climer after my keynote and got her feedback. If you struggle with feedback, speak to an audience; some weeks, I get over 1,000 opinions! You'll get over the fear of feedback...fast!

And yes, there was plenty of play: my birthday week included an all-day music festival with my husband’s band, Jack the Radio (they even made the news twice!), plus mountain biking, two hikes, three coffee dates, and dinner with Lisa, who gave me my favorite gift - homemade monthly treats for a year.

When you read this, I’ll be off to Charlotte for the Work Meaningful Gala to raise money for our tech lab in Akyremade, Ghana—then straight into an all-day board meeting on Saturday focused on educating underserved populations.

On with the Weekender!

PRODUCTIVITY POWER TIP

Guardrails for Meaningful Connections

Connections aren’t optional - they’re the backbone of health, happiness, and even success. In the latest episode, I share how I intentionally nurture friendships and network in a healthy way without drowning in coffee dates (hint: guardrails + walkie-talkies).

Celebrating Life & Connections. Dia De Los Muertos Festival tent in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, NC Last weekend, the Día de los Muertos festival hit me right in the values: color, culture, and community. It also made me miss six years of Huatulco trips and the friends we made there. Megan with Jack the Radio Rockin' out: Remember Megan, the waitress who watched my TEDx on her break and came back with notes? We’re friends now. I took her to her first rock show. She asked if she needed earplugs....

Kitchen chaos, PT truths, and surprise book-club love. The kitchen renovation rolls on, and I’m now a whiz at healthy meals powered by a Yeti cooler + microwave combo (shoutout to Hungryroot and Aldi). We’ve only caved to the siren call of takeout once. We also escaped to Greenville, NC, for my husband’s disc golf tournament, where a working sink and oven felt like a luxury resort. Lessons earned: 1) I’d rent a coworking space for a month. 2) We’d move all the furniture to the garage for...
