RaderCo - Weekender Snapshot

Back in the U.S.!!!

And jet lag is treating me like a punching bag...

New Zealand and Australia were unforgettable. In 18 glorious days, we hiked 75 miles across jaw-dropping landscapes, developed an irreversible flat white addiction, and laughed hard—a lot (mostly at ourselves). I’m already plotting a speaking tour next March to boomerang back for the Global Speaker Summit and work remotely for a month.

Top 3 travel surprises:

  1. Customs takes your shoes & snacks very seriously—like, “not even packaged snacks” and “...did these shoes touch a forest or beach?”-serious.
  2. Things that would cause a social media meltdown here aren't given a second thought there. White Lady Funerals? Totally normal. Different context.
  3. Face tattoos? no biggie, thanks to the influence of the beautiful Maori culture.

Jet lag update: still a gremlin. The rule of thumb is one day to recover per hour of time difference, and friends, 14 hours west-to-east is no joke. I used the Timeshifter app, which helped tremendously on the way there — coming back, not so much. Pro tip: Don't book a mastermind retreat two days after an international flight unless you enjoy feeling like a zombie. #lessonEARNED

Speaking of masterminds: Imagine a brain trust, support group, and a kick in the pants all rolled into one.

I've been in Speakers With Impact for eight years, and they are a big reason I haven't run off to live as a cat wrestler.

On deck: lots of travel for company workshops and conference keynotes — Boston, Minneapolis, Columbia, Indiana, Las Vegas, Pebble Beach. Reclaim Your Workday will make its keynote debut at the end of May!

Behind the scenes: We’re ditching Acuity and moving to Breely for scheduling—fewer links, less fuss. When our coaching app shut down (conveniently, a week before I left), we decided to build our own simpler system. My word of the year is SIMPLIFY, and I'm hittin' it hard at RaderCo.

And because travel is bananas right now, I canceled our coveted RaderCo lake house Design Days™ and held a solo one instead—just me, the library, a coffee shop, and no interruptions.
Mindful Scheduling is still a top theme this year. Even the fun stuff gets filtered.

When you get this, Lisa and I will be walking, caffeinating, swapping just the right amount of vacation photos, and scheming for May in our local Design Day.

On with the Weekender!

PRODUCTIVITY POWER TIP

Episode 103: Navigating the Return to the Office - Company-Wide Strategies for a Seamless Return

Return-to-office plans are either building trust… or blowing up in the breakroom. In this episode, I unpack where companies are going wrong—and what actually makes people want to come in. (Think: 4-day workweeks like Kickstarter, Panasonic, and ThredUp—or at least one sacred, meeting-free day each week.)

RADERCO FAVORITE

Referral Intro Generator

The Referral Intro Generator from Annie Franceschi is my new go-to for helping others help me. In less than two minutes, it gave me a stellar paragraph people can use to refer me without fumbling the handoff. Speakers, coaches, consultants—if you're not using it yet, get it now.

On the travel train... Last weekend was all about Ava—my brilliant niece who graduated from high school with an associate’s degree already! She finished sixth in her class and is entering Ball State (my undergrad alma mater) as a sophomore. From the time she was little, she gave away her toys & money to other kids who needed them more. She’s smart, kind, and ready to take on the world. Not biased...just facts! Her gift? A trip with me next week to the Pebble Beach Resort, where I’m speaking...

The last two weeks have been fully loaded—in the best possible way. I spoke virtually to the National Speakers Association Hawaii and Northwest Chapters on Super Sexy Speaker Systems, helping speakers implement workflows that let them focus on their business instead of chasing their tails. I sent out my 16-minute podcast episode, Optimize Conferences: Pre-Event Strategies to Post-Event Follow-Up, to event pros nationwide. Power tip: Block off the first day back in the office after the...
